Wine Tasting Party @ Home Report

I held my second Wine Tasting Party @ Home on 4th of June!
I chose Great Australian Whites, Eden Valley Riesling, Hunter Valley Semillon and Pemberton Sauvignon Blan/ Semillon blend. Each one has very different character so that everyone could find wine they like most.
I opened one bottle of red (Smithbrook Merlot 2010) because I thought if someone would like to enjoy red wine as well, but after tasted very nice whites, nobody wanted to drink dry red!

The same as last time, after tasting wines we had some finger food and enjoyed chatting.

Having held this party, I found one difficult point. It is about Food.
I am not a good cook, I have budget, there are not many options. 
It will be a similar line up every time which is boring, isn't it?
What should I do?

第２回ワインテイスティングパーティを６/４に開催しました！
今回は”オーストラリアの白”をテーマに
エデンヴァレーのリースリング
ハンターヴァレーのセミヨン
ペンバートンのソーヴィニョンブランとセミヨンのブレンド
を用意しました。

それぞれまったく違うキャラクターを持つワインだったので、参加者それぞれ好みに合ったワインを見つけ、楽しむことが出来ました。
もしかしたら赤も飲みたい人がいるかもと思い１本私のセラーから開けたのですが、テイスティングした白がどれも素晴らしいものだったので赤がちょっときつく感じましたね。

前回と同じくテイスティングの後はおつまみといっしょにおしゃべりタイム！
今回初めて参加された方が２名いらっしゃいましたが、恋バナに花が咲きあっという間に時間がすぎていきました。とても楽しかったです♪

第２回も無事終えてほっとしてはいますが、ひとつ気になることがあります。
それはテイスティングの後にだすおつまみのことです。
私自身料理は得意ではないのと、予算が決まってしまっているので毎回似たような品揃えになってしまいます。
ワインに合わせる軽いおつまみといえばチーズやクラッカー、オリーブなのでいいのでしょうが、なんとなく毎回同じようなものではつまらないかなあとも思い・・・。
どうしたものかと考え中です。

次回のテーマとあわせて、おつまみについても工夫しないとなあと思います。

Wine Tasting Party @home Report

My first Wine Tasting Party finished successfully!
I hope everyone enjoyed as well.

I went to bottle shop afternoon and I found one of wines that I wanted to buy was sold out then I had to chose something else.
That wine I bought was superb!!!
I will write testing note later, it was really well balanced Australian Shiraz!

And I made Wine Tasting Sheet to let everyone pay attention what they should see, smell and taste!
Later they can look at this note, and remember how they tasted, felt these wines.

After tasting, we enjoyed DRINKING wines and some food and lots of CHATTING!!
Some of them were first met here though, now we know each other quite well.
Yes, we talked a lot about ourselves!

I am really happy that I held this party and I am going to do it again with different theme.
What would be good? and When next??


第一回ワインテイスティング会、無事終了しました～♪
とても楽しかったー！

当日の昼間にワインを買いに行ったら
なんとお目当てのワインが売り切れており・・・（1週間前にはあったのにね）
急遽違うワインを購入するということになりましたが、このワインが大当たりでした～。
テイスティングノートは後日アップします。

ワインテイスティングシートなるものも作成し、じっくりワインを味わいながらすすめていきました。
後日見返して、どのワインを飲んだときどう感じたかを思い返すことが出来るので記録するのはとてもいいんじゃないかと思います。

テイスティング後は、おつまみも用意して飲んでおしゃべり楽しみました～♪
初めてお会いする方もいましたが、たくさん話もできたので本当によかったです。

このような会が開けて本当に楽しかったです。次回はテーマを変えてまた開催します！
どんなテーマがいいかな？そして次はいつ開催かな～！？

 Stonewell Shiraz　ストーンウェルシラーズ

When Peter Lehmann started making wine in 1980, he only made one Shiraz. Over following years, he noted the consistently high quality of local vineyards but a select few were producing exceptional fruit, more intense, muscular, and deeper in colour. Those special grapes, nicknamed “little black jewels” by Peter and Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan, were set aside for special treatment and crafted into the finest wine of vintage. They called it Stonewell after the district they believed showed the characters most admired in Barossa Shiraz.
ピーターとチーフワインメーカーのアンドリューウィガンが”小さな黒い宝石”と名づける、その年最高のぶどうを使ったのがこのワイン
主に収量の少ない古い樹からとれるぶどうを使用しているが、最も古いもので樹齢120年以上！
毎ヴィンテージ、とても評価が高いのもうなずけますね

う～ん、飲んでみたい（でもちょっと高いね・・・）

Stonewell Shiraz 2003

The colour is densely brooding with a dark red rim. A very complex nose, showing chocolate, dark fruits, a hint of anise and lifted spices. The palate is beautifully fleshed & has great length, the rich fruit beautifully balanced by a fine tannin structure & superbly integrated oak.
色は陰気なまでに濃く縁は暗赤色、とても複雑なノーズ、チョコレートやダークフルーツ、アニスなどのスパイスの香り。果肉の味わいが美しく、繊細なタンニンとおよそ18ヶ月の樽熟成によるみごとなオークの味わいが素晴らしいバランスをうみだしています。

Stonewell Shiraz 2004（購入可）

Dense black centre with a deep garnet rim. The nose shows lashing of dark plums and chocolate with hint of mint. A wine a great dignity, its structure is superbly taut, with intense depth of fruit reined in by the firm tannins. As befits a wine made in strictly limited quantities, this is a wine for prosterity and may be cellared with confidence.
中心は黒く、縁は深いガーネット色、ダークプラムとチョコレートの勢いあるノーズにミントの香り。しっかりしたタンニンと力強い深い果実味が見事な骨格をなす素晴らしいワインです。

Stonewell Shiraz 2005（購入可）

Colour is a dense purple with a dark rim. It has overwhelming & enticingly pungent dark fruits on the nose promising richness. The 2005 Stonewell has deep velvet fruit clothing the taut structure. It is a seamless wine with superb fine tannins; a hall-mark of the 2005 vintage. The　first Stonewell vintage to be enclosed under screwcap to ensure cellaring and longevity
密度の濃い紫に縁は深い赤。圧倒されるほどの魅力をもつ刺激的なダークフルーツのノーズが豊かなワインを期待させる。2005年のストーンウェルは深みのあるベルベットのような果実味がピンとした骨格をまとっている。2005ヴィンテージは、みごとなまでに繊細なタンニンがおりなすなめらかなワインである。熟成と確かな寿命のため、ストーンウェルでは最初のスクリューキャップ採用のヴィンテージとなった。

The colour is deep red-black leading to a bouquet showing hints of chocolate and dark plums. These　flavours extend to the palate which is richly structured with a fine, persistent finish - a wine of great style and power.
深い黒赤色で、チョコレートとダークプラムの香りがたつ。味わいはとても豊かでフィニッシュは繊細で長い。

Stonewell Shiraz 2007（購入可）Gold Medal Winner

The colour is dense red/black, leading to a bouquet showing hints of dark chocolate and black forest fruits.The palate is richly structured with great power of　fruit and a firm, fine grained tannin finish.
濃い赤/黒色、 ダークチョコレートとダークフルーツの香り。パワフルな果実味が豊かな骨格をなし、しっかりとしたきめの細かいタンニンが余韻を残す。

Stonewell Shiraz 2008 (購入可＊)

 中心は濃い黒、縁は深いガーネット色。ダークプラムとチョコレートとスパイスの香り、しっかりしたタンニンと力強い深い果実味が見事な骨格をなす素晴らしいワインです。

フルボディのオーストラリアシラーズ、強烈な個性発揮してそうですね

ピーターレーマンはワインレンジもたくさん持っているので後日、別の注目ワインについても書いてみようと思います

全部白なんですけどね
