Deep Woods Estate Award Winning Wine

Deep Woods won a Gold Medal at the 2013 Decanter World Wine Awards for the 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep Woods won 1 of only 4 Gold medals awarded to Western Australian wines, and received a total of 7 medals from the competition.
Deep Woods Estate was awarded two Trophies at the 2012 Qantas Wine Show of WA Mt Barker. The 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Ian Tyler Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon and the the Trophy for Best Red Wine of the Show. (News from Deep Woods Estate HP )

白では最高ヴィンテージの1つで、乾燥して穏やかな気候が繊細に品種の特徴を果実に現した。樹齢80-90年。早めに収穫した果実をステンレス槽で発酵。5年間の瓶熟成が複雑さと深い味わいを増す。金緑色の淵にレモングラス、レモンの花と蜂の巣の香り。しっかりしたシトラス系ニュアンス、酸味とミネラル感が長期セラーリングを可能とする。

A multiple award winner, this gorgeous Barossa Semillon is showing complex aromas of nuts, lanolin, beeswax and honeyed overtones. The palate is fresh with wonderful breadth and lemony/honeyed aged characters. Serving it up to those in the Hunter Valley quite nicely!

TASTING NOTES – Incredibly youthful in colour, still vivid green hue. The nose shows rich citrus aromas with a hint of toasty/waxy development just starting to appear. The palate is all class with a seamless structure that is only seen in classic vintages. The tension between the powerful citrus fruit and acid is the key to this wine with a wonderful soft texture in the mid palate connecting the two. Slightly more classic in style and less fruit forward than the 2005, this Vat 1 will happily reward at least another decade in the cellar. テイスティングノート - 驚くほどに若々しい色合い、ヒューは鮮やかなグリーン。豊かな柑橘系の香りにトースティーさがまさにひろがり始めた。味わいは熟成されたヴィンテージに見られるなめらかさ、パワフルなシトラスの果実味と酸が味わいをすばらしくソフトに仕上げている。2005ヴィンテージより熟成されていてやや控えめな果実味である。さらに10年の熟成も期待できる。

ティレルズVAT1 セミヨンは 1963年に製造されたのを始まりに50年作り続けられている、オーストラリア最高のセミヨンワインなのです！

ティレルズは日本ではなじみが薄いようですが、オーストラリアで最も有名なワインの産地、ハンターバレーでも高い評価を受けているワイナリーです
2012年のHunter Valley Wine Showではトロフィー4つ、金メダル13個獲得という素晴らしい結果でした

製造方法は
The grapes were hand picked then lightly crushed
before a relatively cool fermentation in stainless steel. After a short period
on gross lees, the wine was racked and left to mature in stainless steel for a
further five months before bottling.　(www.tyrrells.com.au/wines/2006-vat-1-hunter-semillon)

機械を使わず手作業で収穫したぶどうを軽くつぶし、ステンレススティールの樽で低い温度の中で発酵させます。しばらくの後、ワインを濾してステンレススティールの樽でさらに5ヶ月熟成させボトルに詰めて出荷となります。

ちなみに2003ヴィンテージの商品説明のなかで「4年以上樽熟成」みたいなことが書いてありますが、間違いですね
いくつかそう書いてあるサイトを見つけましたが誰かが間違って書いたものがコピペされたのでしょうか

この2003, 2005ヴィンテージ、オーストラリアでも取り扱いがほとんどなさそうです
オンラインショッピングができるところを一ヶ所だけ見つけましたが日本で買ったほうが安いです


WINE WISE というワインサイトの中で　ティレルズのVAT1 1999 から2008までの10ヴィンテージを 2008年にテイスティングした記事があるのですが
2003はまだ熟成途中にあってピークを迎えるにはまだ数年必要なようだと評価されていました
その2003ヴィンテージが2012 Hunter Valley Wine Showでは銀メダル獲得！
いい状態で熟成が進んだのですね～素晴らしいですね～

ワイナリー情報では2003ヴィンテージは今が飲み頃だそうです
あと数年熟成もいけそうですね
2018年ごろまでという情報もあります

どちらも 2012 Hunter Valley Wine Showでは銅メダルを獲得していますが、2006は現在までにトロフィー8つ、金メダル17個、受賞計47個というVAT1 の中でもひときわ高評価を得ているヴィンテージです

2006ヴィンテージはとにかくリッチ、まろやか、こくがあって
「ちょっといいワインが飲みたいね」
なんてときに、ロブスターや貝類を使ったお料理に合わせたい！！

2012ヴィンテージはまだまだ若くて軽いんだけど薄っぺらくないんですね～
おせちと合わせたい！と直感で思いました

そんなふたつのヴィンテージより高評価を得た2003はいったいどんな味なんだ！？
気になる気になる！
けどちょっと高いですね、約5000円ですね

一応わたしのワインにかける予算は月$100なので買ってもいいんですけどね
他にも目をつけているワインが多々ありまして・・・
どれを買うか悩み中です

2012ヴィンテージは$36なので若干安いですがこの先約10年寝かすことを考えたら・・・素直に2003を購入するほうがよいのかもしれないですね


長くなってしまいましたが
とにかくこのワインは素晴らしいので今後も要チェックです！！
